Vindicated

Went to watch Singapore's match against Malaysia.. The atmosphere was nice.. Rapturous in fact. Loved the atmosphere which I havent experienced for a long time.. Except in concerts.. Insults were flying everywhere too, especially at our row where we have the you-know-who. lol. He was so loud till the whole stadium collapsed. well, er, no, not insulting Liverpool fans like myself. haha..

But at first, at around 5, i met yx at tamp before going bedok to meet the rest at.. 5 pm! Kiasu Singaporeans. What can I say? And when we reached bedok, they were at mac eating. So we had to wait till about 5.30 to go kallang together. Then we reached kallang stadium at around 6, when the stadium was around one-eighth filled.. But we had to sit at a single same spot for 2 hours in the drizzling rain waiting for the match to start! Lol. Should have been as smart as yong zhi to reach the stadium at exactly 8.. And i had to run out to the main entrance through the crowds just to pass him his tickets..

Yea.. So the match started on quite a good note.. For Singapore.. Dominated the match and Malaysia had little possesion of the ball.. Everything was going well until Malaysia struck. A weak shot but it slipped through Lionel Lewis's hands and the ball crossed the line. From then on Singapore panicked and we were pumping long balls for no reason. Lionel Lewis had quite a bad game tonight.. 'Cause he could only parry away all the shots that he faced. And some of them were rather risky. But he did a great job later to save one penalty during the penalty shoot-out, albeit a weak penalty from the Malaysian player.

Before I go into the penalty-shootout, Singapore endured a nervous 2nd-half.. And for much of the second half we were shaky at the back.. But Singapore's efforts were paid off later when they grabbed a PRECIOUS equaliser. From then on Kallang stadium was louder than ever. The players seem to be more motivated to go on and win the game. Towards the end of the game, PRECIOUS had a very nice long range blistering shot that the Malaysian keeper could only tip over the top corner of the goal mouth to the back of the goal. Whew. For one moment i thought Singapore had won it.

Malaysian players were diving all over the place, probably because they were too accustomed to the flood over there? I dunno.. But we were booing them at every chance. Haha.. Plus there was this retarded M'sia fan in front of us in the Singapore fans' area cheering for Malaysia.. No surprise, he was at the end of a lot of jeering.. But he responded by holding his baby high up in the air.. Reminds you of some white celebrity right? haha..

The penalty shoot-out was nerve-wrecking.. We cheered the team on, but were afraid that it'll instead put the pressure on the Singapore players.. Indra Sahdan took the first penalty.. GOAL! The crowd went into a crazy mode. For the subsequent penalties, the atmosphere remained tense.. Then the score was 5-4.. Malaysia took the last penalty..They had to score, or face elimination..

MISS!!!

Everyone went wild. To the dismay of the malaysian fans who had travelled all the way across the straits to witness their teams' loss. To the delight of Singapore fans, we go home happy. Except for Singaporeans with a mix of Malaysian element.. This is vindication.

Final Score:
SIN 1 - 1 MAL
Singapore win 5-4 on penalties.

While some people wonder what's going on at the other side (indoor stadium).. Bet it was equally noisy.. With cute voices of the three girls from the far away country called Taiwan. Disappointment? Maybe a blessing to have saved money. Don't worry I'll think of a way somehow, ya friend? Help you get their autographs. Haha..

After that, we went home on the last train.. Reached home at about 11.50.. And survive another night.

...

Some people just don't get it.
